The earthquake in Haiti is being reported as the worst disaster of its kind in history. There is a severe lack of food, water, medical supplies and resources on the ground. Right now, the best way to provide assistance is to donate money directly.
There are a number of resources to consider:
1. The White House has posted a useful page with links to relief efforts
and places to donate: http://www.whitehouse.gov/HaitiEarthquake
2. The American Red Cross will receive $10 towards the recovery effort if
you text “HAITI” to 90999 on your mobile phone, billing it to your
service.
3. DirectRelief International also has a text message-based relief system
to donate $10 by texting “GIVE10″ to 20222. You can also get news and
